I havent tested these so much, because the tests I did had 0.5 - 1 second lag from in communication, which is not good for that particular project. However they seemed to send flawless (apart from the lag) on the 20 meters I have tested them. I will use them for another project where I need distance and time isn't a factor, but for now it was a bit expensive for modules I can't use. I did read around on the net and didn't find a fix for the timing problem, so I ordered some other modules. Was pretty easy to set up and use though, after a little bit research.

I'm on a mac with an Arduino Uno. After installing drivers (if necessary), you can talk directly to the wireless module through the green USB dongle by bending (or snipping) the wireless module's EN, AUX, and SET pins. For whatever reason the dongle ties this pins in some way that keeps the Arduino IDE from talking to it. So just make sure those 3 pins aren't plugged in to the USB dongle, go to the Arduino IDE, select the correct serial port, and you should be able to type and read serial data without downloading some terminal app. tl;dr all you need is 5V, GND, RX, TX. Don't use the other 3 pins and everything will work out fine.
